New Year’s Day Hike

Tapteal Greenway is sponsoring a hike open to members and the public on January 1, New Year’s Day, in WE Johnson Park. We will meet at 10:00 at the Hall Rd trailhead by the archery range in Richland. To get there take Van Giesen toward West Richland and turn left in front of Woods Nursery on Hall Road and drive to the parking lot at the end.

The hike will go from the Hall Rd trailhead to the Duportail Bridge and back, with a couple of loops along the way. The total distance will be almost 4 miles. The hike goes through both forest and shrub steppe and has some nice views along the Yakima River. It is also a good area for birding. This is a great opportunity to start the year off in a healthy way, work off your excesses from the night before, and enjoy some cold fresh air. Hope to see you there!
